Albany Bulb
Albany Bulb    

The Albany "Bulb" is located at the foot of Buchanan Street at the Albany waterfront. The Albany Bulb was previously a construction debris landfill site until operations were ceased in 1984. The Regional Water Quality Control Board worked with the City and community members to achieve the requirements of a landfill closure order and establish the area as a public park.

Hiking Difficulty: 1

Directions:

  • Take Highway 24 west
  • Take 80 North
  • Take the Buchanan exit
  • Go left under the freeway towards the west
  • Park on the right-hand side (Golden Gate Fields parking is on the left)

 

 

Hiking Difficulty codes:
1=Easy, very few hills to climb
2=Moderately Easy, some small hills to climb
3=Challenging, flat land ranging to gentle to some steep slopes
4=Difficult, some very steep hills to climb

A Conversation with Rat...


There's one thing about owning a store that sells any kind of food. You have to always be on the alert for unwanted visitors, especially of the rodent kind. I've considered myself lucky in that I haven't had a big problem with rodentia. Any problems are quickly dealt with.

However, I was busy sweeping the floor recently in the Walnut Creek store when I thought I saw something scurry past one of the bird seed bags.
